Spent a little time today pouring over 2 seed catalogs. Finally decided to order my seeds from Bakers Creek Heirloom Seeds.
Look at these tomatoes. Last year we grew heirloom tomatoes and they tasted just like tomatos I remembered as a kid. We purchased our plants at a local museum. The Landis Valley Farm Museum Herb Festival they host it every year in our area. It's always Friday & Saturday of Mothers Day weekend. They were the best tomatoes I've had in years. We grew 8 different types of tomatoes. Give heirlooms a try you'll love the flavor.
The pictures in their catalog make my mouth water. Love eggplant.

What wonderful veggie's. Those tomatoes look just so yummy.... I love eggplant also.. I'll have to try out Baker Creek Heirloom.

I have that catalog too! Isn't it like an art book? It is so lovely to look at. I'm going to try some of those winged beans this year if they aren't sold out already. I filled out my order form last week and it filled up half the page! I'm trying about5 different heirloom tomatoes.

To answer your question ... I love to bake and I don't often enough. You are right, the cake stand will forever outshine whatever is on/in it. I wish I had space for a little garden ... I live in a row of eleven townhomes, with no place to garden. I may try tomatoes in containers on my deck this year. I lived, absolutely lived, on tomatoes through all four of my pregnancies.
i am craving tomatoes for breakfast now!
I enjoyed reading your post about heirloom veggies. I was going to ask if you go to the Herb Fest at Landis Valley, then read further and saw it mentioned in your post. If you attend this year, look me up. I am always in the yellow barn. You won't be able to miss me-I'm the one with the buffet!
