The Scent Of Iris

Hello Friends~ ~ ~

Do you enjoy the scent of Iris?
I love to fill my nose with it this time of year.

Let's share a glass of iced coffee as we walk in the garden.

This arrangement is in one of my favorite vases.
Iris and Pink Honeysuckle.

My Favorite Iris
"Warm Laughter"

Back to the garden.

I adore how my "Celsiana" rose has embraced
"Warm Laughter"

Love in the Garden.
Celsiana is a wonderfully scented old fashioned rose.
Shame it only blooms once a year.
I love how the yellow center peeks out.

Do you know what this is?
If you are squeemish about bugs
You may want to fast forward now.
They really are amazing and only 1/4"
long when they make their entrance
into the world from this cacoon.

Can you see all of the tiny Praying Mantis?

Just this week we have had 3 cacoons hatch.
We watch them all summer and truly
enjoy having them around the garden.
Do you have Praying Mantis
in your garden?

Let's end this post with pictures of my
lovely Pink Honeysuckle.
Can you see the little bird house hidden inside?

Here is a better shot.
We have a humming bird that loves the Honeysuckle.
Thanks for stopping by and
sharing a walk in my garden.

Hi Ahrisha.. Your garden looks so lovely! What a great vase! And the pink Iris's are gorgeous!
I wish I had praying mantis.. My Grandmother had them in New Mexico, she always kept a couple with her house plants in the screened porch.

Good Morning Ahrisha,
Thank you for your lovely comment on my blog this morning. Your walk in the garden made me smile. I have hundreds of tall bearded iris' in a huge iris bed. I love the wonderful old fashioned scent they have...reminds me of orange juice. We have them in dozens of different color combos and we look forward to their blooms every April/May. Thanks for sharing yours ;-)

Do you know if there is somewhere in PA that one can purchase preying mantis? I'd like some in my garden to eat the pesky mosquitos!
Have a wonderful holiday weekend!

Arisha, your photos are wonderful! Your iris are very beautiful. I've never seen a praying mantis in my yard, I don't know if they exist here.

Your flowers are so beautiful! Does the hummingbird live in that house? We have hummingbirds but have never seen a nest.

BTW, I have heard that praying mantis pray on hummingbirds. Here is a link...it is very sad :-(

Oh my gosh, Ahrisa. I totally agree about the scent of iris. I can't get enough of it! Love the arrangement you created. We also have a plethora of beach roses here on Cape Cod that grow wild along the beach roads. They too, have a strong, spicy aroma that is intoxicating.

Arisha, I think those are the prettiest Iris' I've seen. We don't see very many here in OK that are such a pale lavender color! Absolutely stunning!!!

Truly delightful Ahrisha! And those praying mantis, so cool! Thanks for visiting my blog and for your lovely words...it's funny, my first daughter wasn't into fairies at all, a real tom-boy! When Abby came along, she embraced the fairy kingdom wholeheartedly...thank goodness...at school, I had 2 friends who were as much into fairies and make believe as I - we wrote a book of poems about fairies and had such magical memories...
