Inspired By Another

Greetings Friends~ ~ ~

I'm so pleased with the results and I want to share my process with you. I was in the middle of putting away all my summer decorations when I visited dear Artie's home over at Color Outside The Lines. He has committed to take a picture a day of his home to share with us for the next 30 days I believe, all in the effort to acquaint himself with his new camera. I got a lot of camera envy goin' on here.

Artie did something that I fell in love with. He repurposed his dining room table to be much like a library table. Now I have this sweet little white table in the sunroom that I have been using for crafting. All summer I have had a floral arrangement and lace doilies and a few do dads on it. This is how it looks now. I am having such fun using it for a knitting table. I love how he turned the chairs around and put stacks of books on them. Although my weakness when it comes to reading material are magazines. I'll probably replace some of the books with a stack of decorating or knitting mags.

I began with 2 summer tablecloths with the lace one on the bottom. A stack of books and the pink flower pot on top. A pretty pedestal glass dish with tea bags.
My books and needles and a few skeins of yarn and some creative arranging. I can now have my pattern out ready for reference as I knit. I pull one of these chairs around and sit here during daylight hours so that I can enjoy the falling leaves outside. Curling up on the sofa to knit isn't always the most practical for me.
This table is sort of pushed into a corner so I can only use 2 chairs around it.

I know, the flowers are the summer ones I was in the process of packing away till next year. I was just so excited to get started that I grabbed the closest things around. Next week I'll show you how I have the same table decorated for this fall.

There is a crystal hanging on the angel's wing and it reflects beautiful colors in the candlelight. A lovely skein of red laceweight yarn. As you can see in the above picture it is almost dark outside.

This picture above is right after I started the arrangement in the afternoon. Lots of light outside the sunroom. On the far left is a bowl of hickory nuts that I initially had on the table but it just did not work. I looked around the house till I found something that might work. Ah, the angel, but he is too short. No problem, I'll put him on a small stack of books.

Better but still to low, more books.

Much better, just the right height. This enamel plate was a gift many years ago made specially for me by a dear friend. It is my beloved black Afghan Hound, Pepsi, who is now with the angels. He was one of those pets that you never forget, a best friend. He was all that is glamorous and aloof yet funny and handsome! I miss him.

A lovely sweater pattern and my favorite knitting needles.

Thanks for visiting me and please leave a comment and let me know what you think.
My thanks to the lovely Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for hosting
Tablescape Thursday.

You've made that space a very inspiring one! I especially like the different heights you've made with the books.

Ahrisha, I think this is absolutely magnificent! You've done a great job, and I'm so very honored that you were inspired by my little dining room post. That's what the blog is all about - and when I see this, and read posts like yours I just get a big smile on my face! Yours looks better than mine though! LOL! Love those chairs, and that pitcher filled with knitting needles is just amazing. FABULOUS JOB! Thanks for the mention! :)

Hi Ahrisha,
Nicely done. I enjoyed the way you shared your thought process as you transformed the space. The knitting needles reminded me of an artist's brushes in a container ... not a dissimilar concept, is it?

Hope you have a great weekend!

You've created a very inviting little knitting space... I'd love to sit and knit and look out those big windows for a while. Love the pot and flowers and the jar full of needles.

Thank you for the great ideas. Thank you also for visiting my blog today and for you lovely comment. That farm house is such a long story! I know... it is back on the market and for rent. I think there must be something better out there...I just need to be patient! Gods time not mine! Thanks for you post!!
